As the result of a discussion at St. Albert this year, we got to thinking that Calgary's WC-SDAC venue was not up to the caliber of St. Albert or Saskatoon. In the past, we have attended Norther Mopars annual show. This is a Mopar only show, of about 100 cars. I think I would like to find an event that offers more activities and greater variety of cars, much like Saskatoon and St. Albert do (Although it would still be nice to have a strong show of support for Northern Mopars show, as they have always been good to us).

Two options have come to mind, which are High River and Radium, but since we are early, there is still lots of time to offer other suggestions in case I'm forgetting a show.

Radium isn't really Calgary, and would require travel for all members (not necessarily a bad thing). Perhaps we could incorporate a meet the day before in Calgary, and then cruise to Radium as a group?

High River offers some activities on the Friday night before hand, such as a burn-out contest. We could also have a BBQ / Turbo Dodge movie night at my house the evening before.

Edit: I forgot to mention, both of these events traditionally take place in September. Radium was last weekend, High River is this upcoming weekend.

Any input would be much appreciated. If plans are formalized in about a month, we'll be able to have our event included in the Turbo-Mopar 2018 calendar. Which is also good incentive to discuss dates for our spring 2018 Red Deer meet, so feel free to bring that up in this thread as well.

Having attended High River yesterday with Thrillz, I think this show would work well for us. About 1000-1200 cars. Beautiful park setting, I really liked where Phil and i parked, in the parking lot for the ball diamond. There was no driving on grass, but we had a TON of room behind the cars to sit, visit, etc... We could easily set up several Eazyups, but they probably aren't required as there are a lot of large, well established trees. Our spot was also quite close to the playground, so family friendly for kids. There were also a lot of food trucks, music, swag, etc...

The show was on the Sunday, Saturday evening they had a burnout contest that we could spectate or participate in next year (if they do it again). We could also have a BBQ and TD movie session at my place on Saturday afternoon.

Also, the drive from Cochrane to High River is very picturesque (through Bragg Creek). I would suggest people stay in the Cochrane area, then we could incorporate a cruise from Cochrane to High River as part of our activities.

Agree, that drive is dynamite. This time of year, especially.

The only concern with the cruise is that the show fills up quite quickly, so in order to do the cruise there we would need to get on the road early. I would expect to have to leave Cochrane by at least 0700.

Sounds like a normal SDAC to me. I'm sure people could manage that.

Sounds good. I'm already getting excited about this event! I think it will be a lot of fun.

Ya, its a good show, nice that it follows the downtown and not just rows of cars in a parking lot. Would get my vote.

Plus it's an "All Makes" show, so you're actually allowed to attend.
